"Build Your Leadership Skills" is a year-long program with 25 selected high school students learning how to build their leadership skills and abilities. It is sponsored by Leadership Los Alamos and the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board with generous support by Los Alamos National Bank, Lou Santoro State Farm, and the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos. Participants attended a two-day training on August 14th and 15th at Fuller Lodge with Sean Hall from On the Edge Productions. On August 14, students learned how to build better relationships with family and friends, participated in outdoor team challenge activities, learned how to increase their confidence, and learned relationship strategies. On August 15, students worked with community leaders, set goals for creating a better community, and learned how to create partnerships with community resources. Students are requested to meet as a group or in teams at least once a month with community leaders serving as facilitators. August 2006 photo gallery...
